The first bilingual project of Sivakarthikeyan, Prince, has hit the screens today in Tamil and Telugu. The movie directed by Anudeep KV has Maria Riaboshapka playing the female lead. Sathyaraj and Premgi Amaren among others essay pivotal roles in the film which has music composed by Thaman.

The film has opened to mixed reviews among critics and the audience. The performances of Siva and Sathyaraj have been garnering appreciation, while the screenplay is receiving flak from cinephiles. Given the support of the family audience that Siva has, the trade is eagerly looking forward to the movie's performance at the box office in this Deepavali season.

The makers have been tight-lipped about the film's digital rights. Well, the cat is out of the bag now; Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the OTT rights of Prince. The movie is likely to stream on the platform after a month in Tamil and Telugu. An official announcement on its OTT premiere date is expected in a couple of weeks.

The movie is Siva's first Deepavali release. Fans of the star, who were content with their matinee idol's previous two movies, hope that Prince, too, will end up as a hit at the box office.

As expected, comedy is the highlight of the movie, though some of the attempts do not land effectively. Director Anudeep, who shot to fame with his previous movie Jathi Ratnalu, tried similar screenplay pattern and characterizations in Prince, too, but could succeed only to an extent.

The movie was released along with Karthi's action thriller Sardar. This is the second time films of the two stars have clashed at the Kollywood box office. Movie buffs are eager to know which among the two will emerge as the Diwali winner this year.
