PremiumPrithviraj Sukumaran completes dubbing for Alphonse Puthren’s Gold, co-starring Nayanthara
The movie, which wrapped up shooting last year, could be Prithviraj’s first theatrical release since the pandemic

The post-production of director Alphonse Puthren’s Gold, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara, has been progressing at full speed. The latest update from the team is that Prithviraj, who is also co-producing the venture, has completed dubbing for the movie.
The movie, which had finished filming last year, marks Alphonse’s first project since Nivin Pauly’s blockbuster Premam in 2015. While the makers are yet to announce the release date or platform of the film, many are expecting this to be Prithviraj’s first theatrical release since the pandemic. The actor’s recent releases – Cold Case, Kuruthi, Bhramam and Bro Daddy – have all released directly on OTT.
In December, Alphonse had shared an update on the film, saying that he was busy with its editing. “This film is not like Neram and Premam. It’s a different movie with a few good characters, a few stars and 2-3 songs,” he wrote, adding the audience shouldn’t expect a war or a romance.
On working with Prithviraj for the first time, the filmmaker, replying to a query from a viewer on Facebook, had said that he was able to learn a lot from the actor. “He read the script and was ready to act before calling action. I told him he inspired me as an actor,” said Alphonse, adding that Prithviraj always updated his skills and that’s the reason he is where he is at his career now.
Meanwhile, Ajmal Amir, who is also part of Gold, had earlier told OTTplay that the movie is a full-on fun movie with interesting characters and situational comedy. Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, Vinay Forrt and Jagadish are also part of the movie.
Alphonse is all set to begin shooting Paattu , which has Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the lead, by April-May this year. The filmmaker was initially set to begin work on the film before Gold, but scheduling conflicts due to the pandemic pushed the project to this year.
