Unni Mukundan's Marco broke language barriers and went on to register a resounding success across various parts of the country, including in Hindi-speaking lands. The action thriller, touted to be the most violent from Malayalam, is still much talked about even more than 2 months after its release.

Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is promoting his movie L2: Empuraan, also spoke about Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco's phenomenal success, explaining how the film was helped by and also contributed to the general resonance towards Malayalam cinema.

During a promotional interview for Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj Sukumaran talked about Unni Mukundan’s Marco pushing boundaries to script a success story.

"I am so happy for Unni, Haneef and the entire team. (It is) a very intelligently mounted film. They created a sort of assumption/presumption about the movie and they delivered beautifully. And I am really happy for Unni and Haneef for the success," he said.

Remarking on the impact of Marco’s success, the Lucifer director also explained that any success will benefit the whole industry.

“In Malayalam cinema, one person's success doesn't depend on someone else's failure,” he remarked, adding that Marco would have benefitted from the general positivity towards Malayalam cinema over the past few years.

“I am sure Marco was helped by the general resonance with Malayalam cinema that is happening. And now that Marco has done well, it will benefit every other film,” he added.

For the unversed, Prithviraj and Unni Mukundan had collaborated on the 2021 film Bhramam.
