Popular Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran was recently seen in the Hindi film Sarzameen, streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium. But the actor is also a noted filmmaker, whose last directorial L2 Empuraan released in theatres in March 2025 and was a hit. So there is much anticipation about his next directorial project, with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s earlier remarks about a dream project and the idea to be pitched for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also gaining significance now. Prithviraj on project with Shah Rukh Khan
Not just in Malayalam, Prithviraj has been able to make a mark in other film industries too. The very articulate actor-filmmaker has a clear vision on his projects and also earlier spoke enthusiastically about his dream project with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth. In an earlier interview, he said that this was the project he wanted to pitch to Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan.
Now, in a recent chat with Nayandeep Rakshit, Prithviraj was asked if this project is what he will be directing after Lucifer sequel Empuraan? But the noted director-actor clarified he is working on another idea and that he has not even spoken to Shah Rukh Khan regarding a project.
"It was a discussion that happened when couple of representatives from (SRK's) Red Chillies came and met me,” he explained.
But he did confirm that his next film will not be the third part of the Lucifer franchise either. He further clarified that he does not want to do back-to-back films from the same franchise.

Prithviraj made his directorial debut in 2019 with Lucifer, starring Mohanlal. The film was an instant hit and remains a fan-favourite. He again collaborated with Mohanlal on Bro-Daddy, which Prithviraj directed and also acted as the son of the Malayalam superstar. His third directorial was L2 Empuraan, the sequel to Lucifer and the second installment in the franchise. All three films are available to stream on OTTplay Premium.
On the other hand, the third installment of Lucifer franchise is touted to be L3: Azrael.
