Ankita Lokhande mourns Priya Marathe's demise

Ankita Lokhande shared some unseen pictures featuring Priya Marathe from the sets of Pavitra Rishta and other fond memories. She shared that Priya was there in her good days and held her through the actress's sad days.

Ankita penned, "Priya was my first friend from Pavitra Rishta. Me, Prarthana and Priya.. our little gang… it always felt so wholesome when we were together. Priya, Prats and I lovingly called each other wedee in Marathi, and that bond was truly special.."

She also added, "She never missed attending the Gauri Maha Aarti during Ganpati Bappa, and this year, I’ll pray for your soul there, my wedee… while missing you dearly. Priya was the strongest she fought every battle with so much courage. Aaj ti nahiye amchya sobat, and it breaks my heart to even write this. Losing her is a reminder that we really never know the battles someone is fighting behind their smile.. So, be kind… always."

Calling Priya, 'my dear wedee,' Ankita said that she will always live in her heart and in her memories. She thanked her for every laugh, every tear, every moment.

About Priya Marathe

Priya was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. On 31 August 2025, she died at her residence in Mira Road at 4 am IST, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

She made her television debut with Ya Sukhano Ya and appeared in several other Marathi serials, including Char Divas Sasuche. Her first Hindi series appearance was in Kasamh Se, where she played Vidya Bali, and she later appeared in a season of Comedy Circus.

Priya rose to fame after playing Varsha in the TV series Pavitra Rishta. The serial also starred the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande. Speaking about her personal life, Priya married her longtime friend, actor Shantanu Moghe, son of actor Shrikant Moghe, on 24 April 2012.
