Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier, who shot to global fame as the viral wink girl, was spotted in a scene in the Hindi film Param Sundari. The Malayali viewers who caught her glimpse were surprised, while the actress also had to suffer trolls, being called an 'extra' and a ‘junior artiste’. Now, Priya Prakash Varrier has opened up about why she left Param Sundari after 1 day of the shoot and the ‘threat’ of her visuals being used.

Param Sundari is a 2025 Hindi film, starring Bollywood stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film, which narrated a north-south love story, was set in Kerala with Janhvi Kapoor playing the south Indian. In a recent chat with Cue Studio, Priya said that she opted out of the Hindi film after one day of shooting as it was not what was briefed to her.

"When I went for the shoot the first day was when I realised that the role is not how it was briefed to me. When I asked for more communication, they did not provide. Then I backed off. But they said it as a threat that they would use the visual. But I was like - I am ready to face it. And as they said, they used the visuals. But that scene was not at all needed there. They also propagated that Priya is there as the junior artiste. But I am ok. They gave me publicity. That's it,” said the young actress.

Priya was seen in a song sequence behind the lead actor Sidharth Malhotra in the Hindi rom-com. Netizens were surprised to see her, and many asked if she was an extra or junior artiste in the Hindi movie.

Priya has now clarified that there was more to that role, but she opted out of the movie and just the visual from her day 1 of the shooting was used in the film.

Param Sundari also faced much trolls and backlash over Janhvi Kapoor’s performance and especially, her attempts to speak the Malayalam language. Senior Malayalam writer-actor Renji Panicker also acted in the Hindi film, but he later defended Param Sundari, saying that the Malayalis were not the target audience.
