Producer Dhananjayan gives clarity on Vikram's Thangalaan release date

Amid a lot of uncertainties surrounding the release date of the highly-anticipated film Thangalaan, starring Tamil superstar Vikram, producer Dhananjayan, the CEO of Studio Green , has finally provided clarity on the matter. In a recent interview, Dhananjayan confirmed that Thangalaan will hit cinemas sooner than initially anticipated.

Producer Dhananjayan breaks silence on release date

"Vikram sir and Ranjith sir have given us a substantial film. Right now, we are working towards releasing the film in April. Soon after the elections are over, we will release the movie. For example, if April 16 is the election day, the film might come out on April 19," said Dhananjayan.

In other words, once the election dates are officially announced, the producers will also finalize the release date for Thangalaan. As it stands, the general elections are likely to take place in April or May. Given the significance of this election and the country's widespread attention on election coverage, no major films are expected to hit the screens before its conclusion.

"Tamil cinema is currently experiencing a dull period, and Thangalaan will change that," promised Dhananjayan.

Blockbusters await for post-election window

Not only Thangalaan but several other big-star movies in Tamil and other languages are also awaiting clarity on election dates.

If everything had gone according to plan, Vikram's Thangalaan might have already been seen by fans of Indian movies worldwide. However, rarely do things happen as per plans, especially in the film industry.

Last year, the producers announced that Thangalaan would have a worldwide release on January 26 . The cast and crew had initiated early promotions with a teaser launch and press interactions. A few weeks later, circumstances changed, leading to a postponement.

The filmmakers cited ongoing post-production as the primary reason behind the delay. Written and directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan is expected to be high on visual effects.
