Despite being a Telugu actor, Allu Arjun has managed to cement a huge fanbase for himself in Kerala. Allu speaks in a mellow yet strong voice in Malayalam for the Kerala audience in his movies but the actual voice behind his on-screen persona is the dubbing artist Jis Joy. It is to be noted that he has been the voice for the actor in all his films in Malayalam including the latest Pushpa: The Rise, for which he has been receiving great comments.
In a chat with onmanorama, he talked about his works and how he landed upon Allu Arjun films. He says the credit goes to producer Khader Hassan, who discovered his voice suitable for Allu’s. It was after dubbing for Manikuttan for the serial Kayamkulam Kochunni, that the producer invited Joy to dub for Allu. He also added that Hassan is the man behind Allu’s popularity in Kerala, as he created a market by pasting rows of posters, banners and arranging fans associations.
When he was asked about the superstar’s feedback, he revealed that he has not been able to speak to Allu yet. Though Joy was called for the promotion of the movie, he couldn’t attend due to the works of his latest movie. Although Allu’s manager seems to have appreciated his good work. Joy also remembered Allu mentioning his name in many interviews, praising his Malayalam dubbed version the best among all.
Joy has been the permanent dubbing artist for Allu for every movie like Gangotri, Bunny, Happy, Krishna, Varan, Rudhramadevi and more. Beside being a dubbing artist, Joy is also a filmmaker, lyricist and a screenwriter. He made his directorial debut with the Malayalam movie Bicycle Thieves in 2013, starring Asif Ali.
Meanwhile, Pushpa: The Rise is continuing its successful run at theatres, marking record box office collections. Mollywood's youth star Fahadh Faasil’s performance in the movie has also been widely appreciated, which has also created waves among Malayalis. The movie also features Rashmika Mandanna, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Ajay Gosh in pivotal roles.
