The Railway Men, directed by Shiv Rawali, is successfully winning hearts on Netflix, following its release on November 18. Starring R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyendu Sharma, Babil Khan, and Juhi Chawla, the series is based on the struggle of brave railway workers who risked their lives to save people during the Bhopal Gas tragedy of 1984. In a candid interview of the team, with Neelesh Misra, R. Madhavan confessed something special.

After Juhi Chawla expressed her reasons for joining the project, Madhavan opened up, “Luckily you said yes. I must tell you. I want to make a confession in front of everyone. When I watched Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, I had told mom, ‘I want to marry Juhi Chawla.’ That was the only aim, marry Juhi Chawla.” Back then, Madhavan had not debuted on any films. His entry into showbiz was with the popular TV show Banegi Apni Baat.

R. Madhavan’s first movie was Inferno in 1997, and his first Bollywood film was the unforgettable Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein in 2001. The irony of the confession is that R. Madhavan and Juhi Chawla have never worked together. Despite starring in The Railway Men opposite Madhavan, Chawla had joined the project after all the portions of R. Madhavan had been shot, and the two did not get a chance to share screen.

In the same interview video R. Madhavan also revealed how his wife had been helped by unknown strangers during the 2005 Mumbai floods. She had been pregnant with their son Vedaant and had been stuck in the car when some helpful strangers lifted the car to safer ground, without even knowing the expecting mother’s identity. Now, thanks to them, Vedaant is making India proud internationally, in swimming, and has already won 5 gold medals.
