Rocketry and Vikram Vedha famed actor R. Madhavan is back to romance. This time, he would be seen as a 48-year-old man romancing a 28-year-old woman in Netflix’s upcoming film, Aap Jaisa Koi. The actor is happy to play his age and be in a story where the romance is believable. He has passed a comment on the same, where Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna's romance in Sikandar was being bashed. Here's everything Madhavan said...
Often called out for the age gaps with his romantic pairing in movies, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor Salman Khan especially faced criticism for trying to make his chemistry with Rashmika Mandanna believable in Sikandar. Almost a month after the movie's theatrical release, R. Madhavan passes a comment on how he, as an actor, would like to play his age on-screen. For Madhavan, expecting any less is 'cringe.' The actor told News18, "To romance a 28-year-old girl and to believe that both the characters is hum-umar ke log is a bit too much for everybody." The actor further stated that a huge age gap between romantic leads is not accepted in Hollywood either these days.
Ironically shooting for De De Pyaar De 2, (Ajay Devgn was praised for playing his age in the original film, while Madhavan enters as the father to Rakul Preet Singh in the sequel), Hisaab Barabar actor R. Madhavan explained how he could not bear the thought during 3 Idiots either. “I was shitting bricks,” he recalls the episode to News18. It was when he met real students and felt younger than them, that Madhavan and co-actors Aamir Khan (Ghajini, Raja Hindustani) and Sharman Joshi (Golmaal: Fun Unlimited) got the strength to work on Rajkumar Hirani's film. The actors felt they looked younger than the real students, who were bald and too worn out from the pressure that follows student life in India.
