Raangi: Here's when Trisha's long-pending action thriller helmed by Saravanan will finally hit the screens

Trisha, who has been hitting the news consistently for the last few months for the right reasons, is now gearing up for the release of Raangi. The project bankrolled by Lyca Productions has M Saravanan at its helm. The movie, which was wrapped up a few years ago, has been lying in the cans for a while.

AR Murugadoss has written the story for the film which is billed as an action thriller. Interestingly, Saravanan's debut flick Engeyum Eppothum was produced by Murugadoss. The teaser of Raangi was unveiled three years ago. The makers have now announced that the film is set for a theatrical release on December 30.

Anaswara Rajan, Lizzie Antony, John Mahendran and Gopi Kannadasan among others essay key characters in the movie which has music composed by C Sathya and cinematography by KA Sakthivel. It revolves around a young woman who sets out to find the truth about a dreaded gang, after which she takes up the protection of a girl.

The movie will be Trisha's second outing this year after Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 which won her praise for the flawless portrayal of Kundavai, one of the crucial characters in Kalki's epic novel of the same name.

The actress has The Road and Ponniyin Selvan 2 coming up next year. The former is a thriller while the latter is expected to hit the screens as a summer release. Meanwhile, the release of Sathuranga Vettai 2, another long-delayed film of hers, still remains uncertain.

The makers had plans to release it earlier this year, but it got postponed further. Mollywood movie Ram is another film she has in her kitty. The Mohanlal-starrer is being made in two instalments.
