After several months of uncertainty over its theatrical release prospects, the Jaggesh-starrer Raghavendra Stores, came out on April 28. The Santhosh Ananddram directorial, produced by Hombale Films, was supposed to have released way back in August last year, but was then pushed ahead without word on when it would come to theatres after all. For a while it was even believed that the film could be a direct-to-OTT release after all. But then, out of the blue, the team announced that it was coming to theatres and it did so in competition with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2. Interestingly, the banner’s Kantara had come out alongside Ponniyin Selvan 1 and stood strong at the box office, but then Raghavendra Stores is no Kantara and, hence, will be headed to OTT fairly soon

In fact, given the recent trend of even big titles coming to OTT within a month of their theatrical releases, especially on Amazon Prime Video, which owns the rights to Raghavendra Stores, it was reported that the Jaggesh film would drop within the 30-day mark. The latest buzz is that the streamer has a date set as well, even though it has not been officially announced. But then, if the Gurudev Hoysala OTT premiere is anything to go by – there was no official confirmation prior – Raghavendra Stores may just be available on the platform one fine day. And for now, we are told that day will be May 26. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will also be on the platform on the same day, we hear.

The film, which marked Jaggesh’s first collaboration with the director and banner, had him playing a 40-year-old unmarried local cook, desperate to get hitched. He was paired with Shwetha Srivatsav in the film, which also starred Dattanna, Ravishankar Gowda and Mitra in pivotal roles.
