Raghavendra Stores, which released in theatres today, should have been out a good 9 months earlier. It was supposed to have been an early August release, but for reasons best known to the team, it was pushed ahead and for the longest time, there was no word from any of them about when it would possibly be brought to theatres. The film with Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh was then rumoured to be a direct-to-OTT release, which we had reported at the time and the actor had liked our social media post stating the same.

The rumours gained credence because Jaggesh was apparently displeased with the fact that Kantara, which released along with his film Thotapuri took the box office by storm, while his didn’t. Kantara was produced by Hombale Films, which had backed Raghavendra stores too. Some of Jaggesh’s statements at the time, where believed to be veiled comments about the banner, and netizens speculated that the stalemate regarding Raghavendra Stores’ release was a result of that. Amazon Prime Video is where the film was supposedly heading, although there was no confirmation about this from the streamer or the production house. But given that Hombale Films and KRG Studios have an ongoing relationship with the streamer, it was a no-brainer that the platform would host the film at some point.

Now that Raghavendra Stores is in theatres, it has been confirmed that Amazon Prime Video holds the digital rights, while Star Suvarna is the satellite partner. Going by recent trends, the film will most likely drop on the platform by the third or fourth week of May.

Directed by Santhosh Ananddram, Raghavendra Stores is a comedy in which Jaggesh plays an unmarried 40-year-old cook, who is desperate to tie the knot. He is paired with Shwetha Srivatsav in the film, which also stars Dattana, Mitra, and Ravishankar Gowda, among others, in pivotal roles.
