Raghavendra Stores: What Jaggesh has in common with Dr. Rajkumar & Puneeth Rajkumar

It is no secret that the late matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar has been a huge source of inspiration for fellow actor Jaggesh. The latter has spoken on several occasions about the aura of Dr. Raj and how the legendary actor's influences, particularly with respect to spirituality, have helped him lead a better life over the years. 

Similarly, Jaggesh shared a great bond with Puneeth Rajkumar and the duo's camaraderie was evident every time they met socially. In several videos that are now available on the internet, Puneeth can be seen up in spirits when he was in the Navarasa Nayaka's company; the fact that the two shared the same birth date (March 17) makes things all the more special. Jaggesh fondly recalls the times he spent with the Powerstar, often referring to them with a hint of sadness.

But not many know of the very special 'interest' that the Raghavendra Stores actor shares with not only Appu, but also Dr. Rajkumar. In a recent interview with a media outlet, Jaggesh opened up about how Puneeth Rajkumar was actively involved in the initial stages of Raghavendra Stores. And since food plays a huge role in the film, he soon got talking about the proud foodies that both Appu and Dr. Raj were. 

"There are so many instances of Puneeth's love for food - once, we were shooting for some show together in Chennai and there was a huge portion of a fish dish in front. Since he was on diet, he looked at the food and felt really bad that he couldn't eat it. But I reprimanded him saying that his diet can wait and when he did eventually grab a bite, his face beamed up like that of a child's. Another time, I was meant to go to Manthralaya with him and when I reached his house for breakfast, there was every possible item on the table that you can imagine. He simply loved food."

"Similarly, Annavru, too, loved food and I am one of those very few people who might have seen him actually eat. And he had a rather unconventional physical posture while eating, which remains etched in my mind forever. But Shivanna (Shiva Rajkumar) is a very poor eater, surprisingly, and once when I complained to Annavru about this, the great man just said, 'well, he isn't meant to savour food like we are so, let's just eat!'."

Raghavendra Stores, a Hombale Films production, releases on April 28 and stars Jaggesh, Shwetha Srivatsav and others in the lead.
