The film that went on floors on the occasion of Vijayadashami last year is now ready, says actor-producer Raj B Shetty, who has just revealed its first look. Called Su from So, this is actor JP Tuminad’s directorial, which he has written as well. JP Tuminad is the actor who played Rukmini Vasanth’s husband in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B, and the gardener in Raj’s last directorial, Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye.
“A new team. A new story. A celebration of cinema crafted with love — and we hope it connects with you,” wrote Raj along with the motion poster, a caricature of a scene from the film, featuring a fairly sizeable gathering at a funeral, all of who are looking up at something. The team has given no other indication about the genre, cast, etc., but going by the first-look image and the background music, a light-hearted comedy is what it seems like. Su from So is Raj’s Lighter Buddha Films’ third production, after Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana and Toby.

Meanwhile, Raj, who was last seen in the anthology Roopanthara (in Kannada), and had a busy year in Malayalam cinema in 2024, is a part of composer-director Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, 45. Raj joins Shivarajkumar and Upendra on the cast. The film is expected in theatres on August 15, in competition with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, but there have been rumours that Arjun is likely to postpone it owing to delays with CG work completion. There’s been no official word yet.

Raj is also the antagonist in Duniya Vijay’s Landlord, directed by Gentleman director Jadeshaa K Hampi (who wrote Darshan’s Kaatera). It’s also been reported that the actor-filmmaker has been working on the script of a Kannada web series that has been greenlit by Sony LIV, a deal that was struck after the platform picked up his film Toby, but yet again, there’s been no official confirmation of the same.
