The first three episodes of The Traitors India, the official Indian version of the worldwide smash format, debuted on Thursday night on Prime Video. The high-stakes show, hosted by Karan Johar, is based on a social strategy game in which a small group of players pretend to be "traitors" and secretly want to destroy their more loyal opponents.

Raj Kundra becomes the first contestant to exit the show

Raj Kundra, a businessman, was the first competitor to leave the show, making headlines among the 21 participants. The second episode promptly eliminated Kundra, proving him to be one of the traitors.

Kundra said about his departure, "I came to The Traitors to win hearts & friends. As I take an exit, I feel that my wife is right. She says that I cannot lie to save my life, and it’s not who I am. I am glad that I stayed true to myself. I extend my best wishes to all the participants of The Traitors."

Emotional toll of a game built on deception

Kundra's exit establishes a tone for the remainder of the season, drawing attention to the mental and emotional difficulties of participating in a game based on lies and confusion. The game's primary strategy was something he felt uneasy about, so he thought about that as well. He said during elimination, "The game’s premise, requiring deceit to succeed, conflicted with my personal ethos."
