Rajinikanth to be felicitated at 56th IFFI for completing 50 years of cinematic journey

At the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is all set to kickstart later this month, superstar and actor Rajinikanth will be felicitated for his achievement of completing 50 years in cinema, for his journey, and achievements. The festival is scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025.

Rajinikanth to be felicitated at IFFI 2025

Actor Rajinikanth, who is no new name to Indian cinema, has completed 50 years in the industry as an actor. To felicitate him for his phenomenal cinematic journey, and highlight his achievement, the 56th International Film Festival of India will be honouring the Tamil superstar who is fondly called as Thalaivar. At the closing ceremony of the festival, the event is to take place. The festival is scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025.

Rajinikanth, most recently seen in Coolie, has over 170 films to his credit. He was introduced by late filmmaker K Balachander through his 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal. After playing supporting characters, villain, and hero, Rajinikanth earned the position of highest order in Tamil cinema.

Apart from this, the festival will witness more than 240 films from 81 countries to be showcased with 13 world premieres, 4 international premieres, and 46 Asian premieres.

Rajinikanth to reunite with Kamal Haasan

Rajinikanth will be starring in Thalaivar 173. The film will be produced by his long-term friend and fellow actor Kamal Haasan. Directed by Sundar C, the film is scheduled to hit theatres for Pongal 2027. It is to be noted that Sundar C has already worked with Rajinikanth in the 1997 film Arunachalam. With more updates about the project to keep coming at later stage, the film announcement has garnered much anticipations among fans. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth also has film with Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2, which is under production.
