2023 has been a special year for Shah Rukh Khan and his fans. Starting from Pathaan to Jawan and now Dunki – all these films have been theatrical successes. While his fans and well-wishers continue to shower love and praise on him, Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani has something to say. Keeping in view of Dunki’s success, the filmmaker wishes to expand the Munna Bhai franchise in the future ahead.

While we don’t know whether Shah Rukh Khan will be working with Rajkumar Hirani again, here is what the filmmaker has to say.

Rajkumar Hirani wishes to expand the Munna Bhai franchise

In 2003, the satirical comedy-drama film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. made its mark, written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani in his directorial debut. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the banner of Vinod Chopra Films, the film hit Indian screens on December 19, 2003. It serves as the inaugural installment of the Munna Bhai film series, paving the way for its sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai in 2006.

Talking in detail about the future of this franchise, Rajkumar Hirani told news agency ANI today, “Both Munna Bhai MBBS films were made so good. I have 5 half-written scripts with me but till I can match the script (of the new movie) to those two movies, I won't make it... I have a lot of interest in making another Munna Bhai MBBS movie, but not sure when."
