On August 18, Gultoo fame Naveen Shankar got his second film as a solo lead, Kshetrapathi in theatres. The film, directed by debutant Shrikant Katagi, was a story set in north Karnataka, which also starred KGF-fame Archana Jois and Achyuth Kumar among others. Kannada actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty, who is known to support smaller film teams and watch a wide variety of movies, was heard saying that he was looking forward to watching Kshetrapathi at the earliest, but had been busy with the promotions of his own film, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, the first part of which is releasing in theatres on September 1.
Kshetrapathi, incidentally, is a film that Rakshit had considered producing , but eventually, things didn’t fall in place. But it looks like Rakshit has managed to find time to go and watch Kshetrapathi. A little while ago, the Simple Star took to social media with praise for the film’s leading man Naveen, writing that the actor surprises him with every film. Highlighting what an amazing talent Naveen is, Rakshit added that he is looking forward to seeing what the actor does next.
The film, which has Naveen as a former engineer who leaves behind his big city dream and returns home to north Karnataka, following the tragic death of his father, a farmer who took his life owing to issues in the agrarian sector, is about how he then fights for the rights of people in agriculture. The film opened to mixed reviews, but had audiences across board praising Naveen’s performance in it. Audiences have been referring to Naveen as the Uttara Karnataka huli . In fact, since his roles in Hondisi Bareyiri and Gurudev Hoysala, the overwhelming sentiment has been that he is one of the most interesting talents to look forward to in Kannada cinema. Well, now Rakshit is also one of those waiting to see what Naveen does next. His immediate next is a KRG production on cricket called Kirik’et 11.
