Rakshit Shetty releases Jigarthanda Double X teaser, dubs Karthik Subbaraj's film 'king size entertainment'

Just as he did in Jigarthanda, Karthik Subbaraj pays another endearing ode to the making of a film with Jigarthanda Double X, which stars Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan in lead roles.

Karthik Subbaraj mustered quite the force to release the teaser of his upcoming Jigarthanda Double X, a new action comedy that stars Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in the lead roles. The filmmaker got four big superstars in Dhanush, Mahesh Babu, Dulquer Salmaan and Kannada's own Rakshit Shetty to do the honours and share the maiden video teaser of his film with the rest of the world.

Rakshit Shetty, who has previously collaborated with Karthik on 777 Charlie, said that he wasn't only delighted to release the teaser but also about the "king-size entertainment" that Karthik Subbaraj & Co. have put together. "Such style and novelty in the making @karthiksubbaraj ☺️ Best wishes to you and the entire team 🤗" wrote the Sapta Sagaradaache Ello actor.

In the same vein, Captain Miller actor Dhanush, who has worked with Karthik Subbaraj previously on Jagame Thandhiram, said that Jigarthanda Double X "looks like an absolute blast".

Another endearing ode to cinema

It is no secret that Karthik Subbaraj, through his films, loves to pay homage to the filmmakers and the brand of cinema that he has grown up watching and admiring. His most popular title to date (arguably), Jigarthanda, was an endearing ode to the vibrancy and joy of storytelling and the spiritual sequel Jigarthanda Double X attempts to do exactly the same, albeit with a shift in tone and sensibility.

The 2014 film, starring Siddharth, Bobby Simha & Lakshmi Menon, traced the journey of an aspiring filmmaker who encounters a gangster and inadvertently leaves a lasting impact on his life. Similarly, the upcoming film follows how a sincere filmmaker and a gangster come together to create a pan-India or a 'Pandyaa' western that is likely to give any Sergio Leone film a run for its money. Here, too, Karthik Subbaraj attempts to capture the behind-the-scenes shenanigans, the mishaps, the confusions, the happy accidents, etc. that contribute to the making of a film. The only difference between Jigarthanda and Jigarthanda Double X, though, is that the latter has a retro setting unlike the former, which is set in the modern day.

Santhosh Narayanan's score is again likely to prove to be one of the highlights of the film along with S Thirunavukkarasu's cinematography and Dhilip Subbarayan's action choreography/stunts.
