Ramabanam, the family entertainer, hit theatres this summer worldwide in a bid to woo audiences of all age-groups. Gopichand and director Sriwass reunited for their hattrick collaboration after Lakshyam and Loukyam, produced by TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory. Dimple Hayathi, Jagapathi Babu and Khushbu played other pivotal roles in the massy sibling-drama.

Nearly four months after its theatrical release, Ramabanam will be coming to OTT via Netflix tomorrow i.e. September 14. The film has something for everyone between 6 and 60 - foot-tapping music, a tale on familial values, high-voltage action, and a hilarious comedy track. While it couldn’t cast a spell on audiences at the box office, one hopes the OTT audiences have a different story to tell.

At the time of its release, Gopichand, while revealing his reason behind committing to the project, shared that it has been some time since he has a full-fledged family film and wanted to do something that’ll please a wide range of audiences. In times when many families were falling apart, he felt the need to work in a film that can serve as an antidote.

He’s not quite wrong about his admission - the appeal of his previous films Pakka Commercial, Seetimaarr, Chanakya, Pantham were limited to a smaller segment of audiences and he wanted to get back to a commercially safe zone. History has always proved that you don’t need a pathbreaking/new story with a genre like a family entertainer.

The trick lies in giving the template a timely upgrade in terms of characterisation, dialogues, music and provide a new generation of audiences enough motivation to hit screens again. In the case of Ramabanam, the story has its heart at the right place. A story of two contrasting siblings, healthy food practices in a commercial exterior may just be the thali you may need!
