Ramayana glimpse reactions: Netizens root for Yash; ‘villain’ gets more cheers now

The first glimpse of Ramayana is out and audiences got the briefest sneak peek of leading man Ranbit Kapoor as Rama and Rocking Star Yash’s antagonist, Ravana. While the overwhelming sentiment is that audiences are excited about the two-part magnum opus and are already convinced that it will be better than the Prabhas-led Adipurush, there is a sizeable chunk that thinks that Yash may just overshadow Ranbir Kapoor.

Ramayana glimpse: Yash has better aura than Ranbir, say netizens

The glimpse was revealed at Imax theatres across multiple locations and netizens have been sharing audience reactions of Yash’s reveal. The deafening cheers, they reckon, are proof that the KGF star may just have an edge over Ranbir. Some even went to the extent of saying that Yash would have been a better choice as Rama, while others thought that the Rocking Star should have been pitted against Hrithik Roshan.

“In this Ramayana, Ravana is going to dominate Rama”, “Yash as Rama and Prabhas as Ravana would have been better impact”, “Casting Yash as Ravana was a bad idea, in the sense that kids will get confused when crowd starts cheering for Ravana”, “Yash has better aura as Ravana. Onscreen it is all about presence and character and Yash is big”, “Yash scored better with his screen presence”, these were among the comments that have been trickling in about Yash in the Ramayana glimpse.

The Namit Malhotra production, which Yash is co-producing, will hit theatres for Diwali in 2026 and 2027. The makers confirmed the main cast details, including Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, while Kajal Aggarwal, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Indira Krishna, Satyen Chaturvedi, Sheeba Chadha, and Shobana confirmed their presence too.

Also on the rumoured cast list were the likes of Ramya Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor, Vikrant Massey, Bobby Deol, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Mohit Raina, none of who shared the Ramayana glimpse today to announce their involvement with the project.
