Ramayana is one of the ambitious projects of filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari. The director will work on the film with a talented and star-studded cast. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Lord Ram in the movie whereas Sai Pallavi will essay the role of Goddess Sita. While the movie was set to go on floors in March this year, it is now reported that the shoot has been delayed by a month. According to the latest development, Ramayana will roll in April 2024.
According to a Mid-Day report, a look test for the primary cast of Ramayana was done in February. However, the makers felt they needed to revisit the costumes. Although they were authentic, the makers felt the costumes lacked scale and grandeur.
"Additional costume designers, who have worked on mythological offerings, were hired last week. The outfits should be locked by March 25," a source told the tabloid. The filmmaker also maintained that he wouldn't commence the film's shoot until he was happy with every aspect.
Nitesh believes that the film has to be loyal to the spirit of the mythological epic. Apart from the costumes, the set of Ramayana will have some minor changes. As for the shoot, it will go on floors between April 12 and 15.
While Ranbir and Sai will be seen as Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, KGF star Yash is expected to play the part of Ravana. Besides them, Sunny Deol has reportedly come on board to portray the character of Lord Hanuman. As far as Lara Dutta is concerned, the actress will be seen essaying the role of Princess Kaikeyi. And it is also being said that Rakul Preet Singh has been approached for the character of Shurpanakha.
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is expected to be released on Diwali 2025. However, an official announcement by the makers is awaited. The shoot of the mythological epic will go on until July 2024.
