When director Prem decided to have a shot of Sanjay Dutt as Dhak Deva brandishing a severed head and placing it on a table in a police station in the teaser of his film KD The Devil, it was clear that he intended to let audiences know that his story has quite a lot of violence in it. Reaffirming this is actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind, who proclaims that KD is, indeed, a very violent saga and the proof, he says, is in the bucket loads of (fake) blood that Prem ordered on the set of the film.

Ramesh Aravind: KD is the most violent saga

“Normally, when an actor is on the set of a film, the makeup kit will include, say, 100 ml or so, of fake blood, to be used if the character sustains a minor injury. In my films, I rarely needed this and would throw it away after each project. In KD, though, all the blood that I didn’t have to use in my 150 films, was literally poured over my head. Prem orders blood by the bucket on the set. KD, I would say, is really the most violent saga,” said Ramesh Aravind, adding that it was quite the task washing off all the blood at the end of each day’s shoot.

The actor is quick to add, though, that despite all the violence, KD is also quite entertaining, an interesting mix that Prem has handled well. Ramesh was also ecstatic about his combination scenes with the main cast of KD, including Dhruva, Sanjay, Shilpa Shetty and V Ravichandran, each of which he says is “powerful”. “Working with all these power-house performers was quite the experience,” he adds.

KD The Devil, according to the team, will be in theatres in the next 2-3 months, with rumours hinting at an early September theatrical outing. Produced by KVN Productions, KD is being prepped as a two-part project, which was revealed by Crazy Star Ravichandran recently. The film has music by Arjun Janya, while Vikrant Rona fame William David is the cinematographer.
