During an interview with BBC News, Anurag Basu revealed that Ranbir Kapoor rejected Kishore Kumar biopic to prioritize Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The filmmaker added, "Ranbir had a tough choice in life, Kishore Kumar or Ramayana. It was very difficult for him. In the end, he chose Ramayana, and I think it was the right decision." 

Although there is speculation that Aamir Khan may now star in the biopic, the director remains cautious, saying that nothing is confirmed until the deal is signed.

Reportedly, Ramayana will be dubbed into English, Japanese, Mandarin, and several international languages. However, all the shlokas and bhajans will be in Indian languages to preserve their cultural and spiritual authenticity.

Producer Namit Malhotra in a statement, shared, "Our movie will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the biggest producations in the world like the Dune and Avatar."

Ramayana cast

Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic, Ramayana, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film also features Ravie Dubey as Lord Lakshman. Apart from them, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta, and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen playing important characters in the film.
