Jimmy Sheirgill, who is known for his work in the Hindi and Punjabi film industry made his Bollywood debut in the year 1996 with Gulzar's film, Maachis. Recently, the actor talked about his early struggling days in Bollywood. He also revealed his first salary which he received for the film Maachis. Read on to know the details!

Jimmy worked in Maachis as well as the 1999 film Jahan Tum Le Chalo, however, the actor became a household name when his film Mohabbatein, also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan was released. In a recent interview with Sushant Sinha, the actor revealed that he used to get money from his parent during his struggling days. 

Jimmy revealed that after completing his studies in the film, he decided to stay in Bombay. The actor got an opportunity to meet Gulzar when he heard about the film, Maachis through some mutual contacts. So he went to Gulzar and requested him to keep him as an AD. Gulzar then asked Jimmy. "If you do acting, why do you want to come into direction?” Jimmy replied, “I have heard that here nobody gets a break until after five or six years and I don’t want to go home." The director-writer then gave him the script to read and asked which role he like if you had to choose a role out of the script. Jimmy said, ‘I think I should do Jimmy. My pet name is Jimmy.’ I met him as Jasjit Shergill.”

The actor also revealed that he heard a lot of taunts from the people as it was a small role. He was told that he should wait for his time to come. Speaking about his remuneration, the actor said, "I think it was somewhere around Rs 20,000. I was lucky that my family was supporting me. This went on till I got Mohabbatein. Once Mohabbatein came, I slowly reduced taking money from home."

Meanwhile, Jimmy was recently seen in Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, directed by Santosh Singh. The show also stars Lara Dutta and premiered on April 25.
