Compliments and well-wishes are pouring in for the film 2018: Everyone is a Hero and its lead actor, Tovino Thomas. The film has been picked as India's official entry to the Oscars. This comes after Tovino won the Best Asian Actor award at the Septimius Awards for his performance in 2018. The latest to wish the team is Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who also congratulated Tovino.

Tovino revealed that Ranveer considers him one of his favourite actors and is eager to collaborate with him. He shared this news during an Instagram live that he did from Amsterdam, where the Septimius Awards were held.

There have been rumours that director Basil Joseph, who helmed Tovino's Minnal Murali, may be collaborating with Ranveer on the film adaptation of the superhero TV series Shaktimaan. Actor Dhyan Sreenivasan accidentally confirmed this during a recent interview. 

Tovino Thomas on 2018's Oscar entry

Speaking about his film being picked as India's official entry to the Oscars, Tovino said that 2018 is a beloved film for Keralites. He also acknowledged the immense effort that went into making the movie and expressed regret at not being in Kerala during the announcement of the news. Tovino also pointed out that such recognition comes with the responsibility to continue creating high-quality films.

Speaking about being awarded Best Asian Actor, Tovino said it is a proud moment for him as an actor to receive international acclamation.

Tovino Thomas receives Best Asian Actor at the Septimius Awards

Tovino was given the Best Asian Actor trophy at the Septimius Awards for 2018. The movie is inspired by the real events that took place in Kerala during the 2018 floods.

The cast of 2018 includes Tanvi Ram, Asif Ali, Sudheesh, Kunchacko Boban, Indrans, Lal, and Narain, alongside Tovino in prominent roles. The film grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in Mollywood's history.
