In the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 8 with Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh talked about these difficult times, stating that he had never before faced three consecutive failures.
Ranveer Singh last appeared alongside Alia Bhatt in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar. The audience and critics both gave the movie positive reviews. The movie also did well at the box office. However, Ranveer had three box office failures prior to this, including 83, Cirkus, and Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
Now, in the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 8 with Deepika Padukone, he talked candidly about these difficult times, stating that he had never before faced three consecutive failures.
"I went through a lot, especially after Cirkus," stated Ranveer. "Coming out of the pandemic, we had this beautiful film 83. It was just released at the wrong time. Jayeshbhai Jordaar was again a lovely well-intentioned film, which again ultimately found its audience on streaming. Cirkus I had a limited contribution and limited responsibility. So I can’t really beat myself over it.”
“Having said that, I had not seen three major flops in a row," the actor continued. "So it was new to me. I was not good. But then I came to terms with everything that was happening around me. After everything that has happened, I have come out of it with more gratitude in my heart than ever before.”
At the box office, Kabir Khan's highly acclaimed sports film 83, which was produced at an estimated cost of Rs 270 crore, lost more than Rs 150 crore. The film collected 183 crores at the ticket window and also starred Deepika Padukone opposite Ranveer.
Cirkus, a major Christmas release in 2022, is a Rohit Shetty-directed film. The film starred Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandes, and Pooja Hegde. Unline Shetty's hit films, the movie only brought in a total of Rs 35.65 crores.
About Jayeshbhai Joardaar
The makers of YRF's Jayeshbhai Jordaar suffered significant losses as a result of its poor performance and enormous commercial failure. The film starring Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey collected only 26.31 crore at the box office.
Ranveer Singh's work front
Ranveer is slated to take Shah Rukh Khan's place in the third installment of Don. For the same, though, the actor has been the target of harsh criticism on the internet. Responding to the same, in the Koffee With Karan episode, Ranveer said: “Ek chance dedo. 12-13 saal maine theek-thaak kaam kiya hai. Ek mauka toh banta hai."
