So rumour has it that ‘national crush’ Rashmika Mandanna will soon be seen with Farzi star Shahid Kapoor in what is likely to be an action-comedy film. After the success of Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil starrer Pushpa: The Rise, the actress featured in Vikas Bahl’s Goodbye and Shantanu Bagchis’s Mission Majnu, while she will star opposite Ranbir Kapoor in upcoming gangster drama Animal and with Vicky Kaushal in Chhava. Shahid, on the other hand, is gearing up for Ali Abbas Zafar-directed Bloody Daddy.
If the latest reports are to be believed, Rashmika and Shahid will share screen space for the first time in a yet-to-be-announced action-comedy entertainer, to be helmed by Anees Bazmee. According to sources, Shahid will play a double role in the film, one of which is that of a don. That’ll be a first in his career! The movie will be jointly produced by Telugu producer Dil Raju and Ekta Kapoor.
“Rashmika was the ideal choice from the beginning. Both Ekta and Raju have worked with her in Goodbye and Varisu, respectively. And they believe she naturally fits the quirky character of the heroine in this film. Moreover, Shahid and Rashmika make for a fresh and captivating on-screen pair, generating more excitement among audiences,” an insider told Peepingmoon.com.
Described as a comic caper, the film comes with a quirky storyline, peppered with action. The movie will feature an ensemble supporting cast. The director is said to have almost completed the script, while pre-production work is likely to kickstart next month. If all goes fine, the movie will go on floors in August-September.
