Rathnam - Vishal wraps up shoot of Tamil action drama, hints at release date, ‘MAY this be a...’

It is officially a wrap for Vishal-starrer action-drama, Rathnam. Directed by Hari, Rathnam marks the 34th film of the Mark Antony actor. Taking to his social media handles, the Tamil actor shared a photograph of him along with cinematographer M Sukumar and director Hari. The actor penned a note to thank the makers for the opportunity and recalled the ‘positive atmosphere’ created by the crew to film the movie. The actor also promised that Devi Sri Prasad’s music in the film will be a ‘feast for all action lovers’.  

At the end of the note, Vishal hinted that the film will be released in May.  

 “Done with entire shoot of #Rathnam. Was an absolute pleasure to work with Dir Hari sir for the third time, with darling DOP @mynnasukumar and the entire unit. now time to unleash darling DSP’s supa exciting single track damn soon,” he wrote on social media. Promising a feast for all action lovers, the actor further said, “MAY this family entertainer bring in more joy and happiness while enduring this cinematic experience on screen. MAY this be a summer treat. MAY the release date announcement be soon. :) :).”

A complete action-packed first-look video

Earlier, the makers of the film had released the first-look video which opened with visuals of a series of lorries arriving at a place packed with several idols. Later, Vishal is seen getting off a lorry and beheading a man whose hands are tied. Then the video introduces us to the title – Rathnam. From the first glance, we can confirm that the film is set to be yet another action-packed film by director Hari, with the film hinting at gore scenes just like in the recent trend of action films.

Cast and crew of Rathnam

Besides Vishal, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu and Gautham Vasudev Menon are playing key roles in Rathnam. Devi Sri Prasad, who earlier worked with Hari for Aaru, Singam and Venghai, has scored music for the action flick. M Sukumar handles the camera work and T S Jay is the editor. 

Kanal Kannan, Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbrayan and Vicky are the stunt directors, while Ashok Narayanan M and Pavan Narendra are the associate producer and executive producer respectively. Hari is also writing dialogues for the Tamil version of Rathnam, which will also be released in Telugu.
