RDX writer Adarsh Sukumaran on Mammootty-starrer Kaathal’s release

Although the shooting for Mammootty-starrer Kaathal - The Core was completed a while ago, the release of the film has been facing delays. There seems to be confusion about whether the movie will be released in the theatres or on OTT. During an interview recently, screenplay writer Adarsh Sukumaran - who’s also associated with the blockbuster Onam release RDX - commented on the release of Kaathal.

‘Looking forward to the film’s release’

Adarsh told Silly Monks Mollywood that the movie’s release date is in line with the plans of the production company, Mammootty Kampany. He also added that after the release of RDX, he has received numerous inquiries about the release of Kaathal. The writer said that he is equally excited about the film’s release, just like everyone else.

‘I feel blessed to be part of Kaathal’

Spilling the beans, Adarsh said that Mammooty was not the first choice for the role of Kaathal. He was later brought into the project by director Jeo Baby. Speaking about his experience on the set, the screenplay writer said, “I think my days on the set of Kaathal have taught me several lessons, and those lessons have inspired me while writing the script for RDX.” He feels blessed and honoured to work with personalities like Mammootty, in the initial days of his career.

Kaathal to release on JioCinema?

Kaathal was initially scheduled for a theatrical release in May 2023, but later the makers changed that decision. Going by the latest reports, JioCinema has bagged the rights of the film’s OTT release. Director Jeo is best known for films like The Great Indian Kitchen, Freedom Fight and Sreedhanya Catering Service. Co-written by Adarsh and Paulson Skaria, Kaathal also marks the comeback of Jyothika. The film revolves around a middle-aged married couple and their romance. Produced by Mammootty Kampany, the film stars Lalu Alex, Muthumani and Chinnu Chandni Nair.
