Renegade Nell is Disney+'s upcoming original series with a fun, historical yet adventurous premise. The fantasy show stars Derry Girls fame Louisa Harland as Nell Jackson, the eponymous heroine. Lead directed by Sex Education fame Ben Taylor; Renegade Nell will have 8 episodes.
Written and created by BAFTA-winning writer Sally Wainwright of Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack fame, the series dropped its trailer today. The trailer offers a peek into the stunning recreation of 18th-century England under Queen Anne’s rule. The series is set to premiere with all eight episodes on March 29, 2024.
Nell Jackson is a quick-witted, brave young woman whose life turns upside down when she is framed for a murder she did not commit. The unjust conviction forces her into a life of crime. As she prowls the highways of England, over time she becomes one of England’s most feared highway women. And for good reason, especially if you have seen her fight.

Though the exact connection to her extraordinary strength and sense is not revealed in the trailer, the magical, helpful spirit Billy Blind is the key, as he lends her powers, Ratatouille-style, during fights. Even the royals and nobles quiver upon hearing her name. They say that she fights as though she were "possessed," dodging bullets and throwing carriage doors at shooting enemies.
Thanks to the protective and trustworthy aide in Billy Blind, Nell is equipped for the “very great things” destiny has in store for her, including defeating her mortal arch nemesis, the scheming and manipulative Earl of Poynton. Now, it is to be seen whether Nell has it in her to not only remain enshrined in the hearts of people but to clear her name and remain alive.
Other than Louisa Harland, Renegade Nell also stars Frank Dillane as Charles Devereux, Alice Kremelberg as Sofia Wilmot, Adrian Lester as Robert Hennessey, the Earl of Poynton, Nick Mohammed as Billy Blind, Enyi Okoronkwo as Rasselas, Jake Dunn as Thomas Blancheford, Bo Bragason as Roxy Trotter, and Florence Keen as George Trotter in prominent roles.
