Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty had a foot-in-mouth moment when he described Rajamouli's RRR as a "gay love story" in reply to someone who tweeted about his disliking for the film. Leading Tollywood producer Shobu Yarlagadda, known for bankrolling movies like Baahubali, lambasted the sound designer's distasteful tweet.

He replied to Resul that RRR isn't about love story between two gays and asked what's the problem with a gay love story. Shobu expressed disappointment at Resul's comment and said that he didn't expect it from someone of his stature.

His tweet read, "I don't think @RRRMovie is a gay love story as you say but even if it was, is "gay love story" a bad thing? How can you justify using this ?  Extremely disappointed that someone of your accomplishments can stoop so low! (sic)."

Resul became the victim of trolls in no time from fans of RRR and other movie lovers. A few went on to say that the sound designer is jealous of the sensational reviews pouring in for RRR. Some of them posted screenshots of his old tweet in which he had expressed slight disappointment over Rajamouli's Baahubali, and alleged that he dislikes the filmmaker for not associating with him.

To make things worse, another tweet of Resul in which he said that Alia was used as a prop in RRR made fans even furious. After a few hours, he took to his Twitter page and said that he never intended to disrespect the movie, and that his tweet was part of "banter that already exists in public domain".

He tweeted, "There is no stooping factor in this.U don’t have2 take it seriously Shobu,I didn’t mean any offense2 any stake holders.I rest my case here (sic)."
