In April this year it was revealed that the multi-starrer Uttarakaanda, produced by KRG Studios and directed by Rohit Padaki, had cast Bhavana in a pivotal role. The film, which was initially announced as a Dhananjaya-led project, eventually also got Century Star Shivarajkumar in a main role. Bhavana, we’d been told, will be paired with Shivarajkumar and today, we got to see what her character will look like.
Uttarakaanda is Bhavana’s third film with Shivarajkumar after Tagaru and Bhajarangi 2. A source from the set tells us that Bhavana’s combination scenes are majorly with Shivarajkumar and it is the death of her character Veeravva that brings about a major twist in the tale. Shivarajkumar recently joined the set of the film. His look is the only one left to be revealed, which will, in all likelihood, be for his birthday on July 12.
Catch Bhavana and Shivarajkumar's first collaboration, Tagaru, on SunNXT with OTTplay Premium's Simply South pack. Enjoy 20 OTT platforms streaming South content including SunNXT, aha, ManoramaMAX, ZEE5 and more at just ₹75.
Uttarakaanda’s ensemble cast includes Diganth, Yogaraj Bhat, Aishwarya Rajesh, Chaithra Achar, Rangayana Raghu, Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, among others. A two-part gangster-film set in north Karnataka, Uttarakaanda is the most ambitious production that KRG Studios has taken up thus far. It is the third collaboration with Dhananjaya and second with Rohit after Rathnan Prapancha.
Uttarakaanda was initially announced as actor Ramya’s comeback film, and the actress was at the muhurtha of the film as well. But months later, when the team actually went on floors, Ramya took to social media to announce that she had excused herself from the film. She has given no reason as to why she decided against the film. Aishwarya Rajesh is said to be Ramya’s replacement in the film.
Meanwhile, Bhavana’s last in Kannada was a thriller called Case of Kondana , in which she played a police officer investigating a case of home invasion murders. The film opened to good reviews and has done well on OTT too.
