Chelsea have officially revealed the squad number for their latest signing, Alejandro Garnacho, who joined the club this summer from Manchester United. The 21-year-old completed his switch from Manchester United on Saturday and was present at Stamford Bridge to witness Chelsea’s 2-0 win over local rivals Fulham.

Garnacho expressed his enthusiasm about the move, saying, “I have a winning mentality and I have passion and a big personality. It’s a natural fit with a club like Chelsea, which have just won the Club World Cup. Chelsea are at the top now, and it’s important to fight for the club like the fans deserve.”

The Argentine international has already begun training at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground and is expected to be in contention for his debut when Chelsea travel to Brentford on Saturday, September 13.

Significantly, Garnacho will wear the No. 49 shirt for Chelsea, the same number he donned during his first two seasons in Manchester United’s first team.

Granacho has made 93 Premier League appearances and scored 16 goals for Manchester United. For United overall, across competitions, the 21-year-old played 144 games, scoring 26 goals.

Garnacho’s future

Garnacho would really hope to forget what happened with him in the last few months at Old Trafford. The former Puskas winner has shown the world what he is capable of when he has been given the freedom and guidance.

Chelsea under Enzo Maresca have lots of young players, which will also help Garnacho to gel well and get going from the start.

Moreover, apart from excelling for the Blues, Garnacho would hope to secure a spot in the Argentine senior team for the FIFA World Cup 2026 next year.
