If you were born in the nineties or grew up in the nineties era, you will agree and abide by the fact that, during that time, there was a phase when every second or third track that was played on radio or television, happened to be a song which was sung by the inimitable Kumar Sanu! The laurels and the recognitions which his songs enjoyed were totally incomparable! Besides the fact that, many of his tracks feature in BBC's ‘Top 40 Bollywood Soundtracks Of All Time’, Kumar Sanu also holds a world record of having recorded as many as 28 songs in a single day!

In an interview with Indian Express, the legendary singer walked the memory lane and revealed a handful of unknown facts (read ‘gems’) which in the form of incidents which took place while recording a few of his tracks. To begin with, Sanuda (as he is fondly called), walked the memory lane and recalled the day when he recorded the evergreen track from the Rahul Roy- Anu Aggarwal starrer ‘Aashiqui’. The singer revealed that, while recording the track ‘Nazar Ke Saamne Jigar Ke Paas’, the film’s music composer duo Nadeem-Shravan shouted from the microphone saying ‘You are a Tiger’. And ever since then, Sanuda is fondly called as ‘Tiger’ amidst the circle of music composers and likes. Not just that, after they wrapped up the recording, they (Nadeem-Shravan) expressed their joy by tossing currency notes of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100 as an ‘indication’ that they have a winner in their hands (in the form of the track).

The next track was the evergreen ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ from the timeless film 1942: A Love Story. Kumar Sanu recalled the memories by saying that the legendary music composer Pancham da (RD Burman) walked into the recording room and instructed him saying that, the song had a lot of ‘jaise’ word.(Jaise khilta gulaab, jaise shayar ka khwaab, jaise ujli kiran, jaise ban mein hiran). And Panchamda’s instructions was that the pronunciation of the word ‘jaise’ should be different from each other, which Sanuda adhered to diligently. And after the recording, Panchamda kissed his forehead and started abusing him, which kind of puzzled Kumar Sanu. Only later, did Sanuda got to know that, that’s (the abuses) are his way of expressing his joy if he likes a song very much!
