Actor-couple Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal were making headlines earlier this year, as they announced their production venture- Pushing Button Studios. The first film under the banner was announced to be the Suchi Talati directorial Girls Will Be Girls. When News18 caught up with the actor recently for a chat, she opened up about her venture with Ali and their upcoming plans for the same.
Being happy about the new feather in her cap, she shared her excitement to collaborate with her batchmate and friend Suchi Talati for her debut production. She believes Suchi has a unique voice, and the team is trying to put together a female crew, as they are gearing up to create a space hurdling the gender barriers. ‘We want to experience what it would be like to have no gender on set, said her. She also stated that the project will go on floors in the summer of 2022.
When Richa was asked about the importance of launching a production house being an actor, she replied that the duo wanted to tell stories that everyone could easily relate to, and they realised it will not happen when one is only an actor. She seems to like knowing the fate of a film, as she believes people will find the potential in it and make it work. She further added that Ali and she have trust in each other’s aesthetic and doing something together which will work out for both of them, was not a daunting thought.
Meanwhile, Girls Will Be Girls is the only Indian script that got an invitation to the prestigious Berlinale Script Station, 2021, which is a lab that chooses 10 projects from the world each year. The movie, which is set in an elite boarding school, will chronicle about the 16-year-old Mira, whose rebellious coming-of-age is hijacked by her mother.
