Rippan Swamy out on OTT: Here’s where to stream Vijay Raghavendra’s violent thriller

Vijay Raghavendra does not have a great box office record, and yet, he continues to be one of the busiest actors in Kannada cinema, with at least 3-4 releases in a year, most of which comes and goes unnoticed. In 2025, for instance, the actor has already had three releases, apart from a cameo. His latest was a film called Rippan Swamy, which reunited him with Kishore Moodbidri, the director of his 2020 film, Malgudi Days.

This time around, Kishore decided to give Vijay, who is normally seen in Mr Goody Two Shoes characters, a raw and more rustic violent avatar. Vijay is the title character Rippan Swamy, who runs a pork butchery. Swamy’s death is what propels the story, as the narrative spins around the 5 people who used to work for him and if they had any part in his demise.

During the promotions of Rippan Swamy, Vijay had said that he was actively looking for roles that were a far cry from the ultra-good hero he’s been in most of his films. Case of Kondana was one such, in which he played a deeply flawed policeman, and he follows that up with Rippan Swamy, an exploration of the character’s problematic life.

The film also stars Vajradheer Jain, Prakash Thuminad, Ashwini Chandrashekar, Santhosh Shetty, Anushka Adiraghavendra, Yamuna Srinidhi, Mohan Sheni, among others. Ranganath C handled cinematography, while Samuel Aby served as composer.
