Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani teaser: Karan Johar brings back K3G in 2023 style with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, Watch

Finally! After building anticipation among fans by dropping some really cool and quirky posters, the makers of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani have dropped its much-awaited teaser. The film marks the return of Karan Johar to the director’s chair after a long gap of seven years and going by the looks of the teaser, it seems replete with everything you can expect from a typical KJo film – lavish sets, larger-than-life song and dance sequences, exquisite locations and picturesque landscapes, impeccable styling, vibrant and striking frames and a storyline that seems high on romance, emotions, conflict, family drama, and everything in between.

The 76-second-long teaser is quite smartly cut – giving you just enough to quench your anticipation, as well as evoking enough excitement in you for the release of the trailer and ultimately that of the film in the theatres. However, we hope that the makers don’t reveal the entire plot and storyline in the trailer. KJo, hope you’re reading this!

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marks the second outing of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt after Gully Boy (2019). However, this time, they seem to be having much more fun with their characters. Of course, it helps that they’re getting to spend more time on screen in RRKPK than they did in the Zoya Akhtar film and their chemistry, as witnessed in the shots of the various songs incorporated in the teaser, seems quite palpable. 

We can’t help swooning over Alia Bhatt’s fabulous chiffon sarees and overall look in the film. It appears as if she plays a Bengali lady while Ranveer Singh’s flamboyant attires do give a hint that he may be playing a spirited Punjabi guy. The duo lights up the screens with their mere presence in every scene.

While the first half of the teaser may give you a déjà vu of some of the most memorable and beautifully shot songs by Karan Johar in his previous films (Bole Chudiyan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham Tumhi Dekho Naa in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna among others), it’s the second half of the teaser where you get a glimpse of the conflicts that await this family drama that also stars veteran actors like Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. Going by the visuals in the teaser, it almost seems like K3G done in 2023 style (in terms of the treatment and scale, not the storyline). 

The long wait definitely seems worth it and we’re excited to witness this prem kahaani unfold on the big screens. It seems that the film is going to be a complete masala family entertainer which should bring families back to the theatres in large numbers. Directed by Karan Johar, the film’s story and screenplay have been written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan, and Sumit Roy, while Moitra has also penned down the dialogues. After a couple of delays, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is all set to hit the theares on July 28, 2023.
