March is also proving to be a crowded month in Mollywood with at least five films queuing up for release in the first two weeks. The most recent to join the list is director Vysakh’s thriller Night Drive.
The film, which has Roshan Mathew, Anna Ben and Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead, is touted to be a pacy road thriller that is scripted by Abhilash Pillai, who has also written the screenplay for M Padmakumar’s upcoming film Pathaam Valavu.
The film marks the second collaboration between Roshan and Anna after their acclaimed hit Kappela , which is available on Netflix. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Abhilash had told us that their characters in Night Drive will be different from the roles they played in the 2020 release.
Indrajith, who will be playing a cop named Benny Mooppan in the movie, will be seen in a stylish avatar. Night Drive also has Renji Pan icker, Sidhique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Surabhi Santosh and Muthumani as part of the cast.
While the initial plan was the release the film in December 2021, the makers on Monday announced that Night Drive will now hit theatres on March 11, 2022. This will set up a clash with Navya Nair’s thriller Oruthee, which is based on true events. Kunchacko Boban’s Pada is also expected to hit theatres on March 10. The movie too is inspired by real-life events involving members of Ayyankali Pada, who held the district collector of Palakkad hostage in 1996.
The trailer of Night Drive, which was unveiled a few months ago, promised a riveting thriller based on a few incidents that happen in the life of the characters of Roshan and Anna, Georgy Jacob and Riya Roy, respectively, during a drive. How they face the situation amid the pressure is what the film is about. Night Drive marks Vysakh’s next film after Mammootty’s Madhuraraja. He also has Mohanlal’s Monster coming up.
