The long-awaited RRR has finally hit cinemas and one can’t help but compare the box office earnings of Rajamouli’s new directorial to that of Baahubali and Baahubali: The Conclusion.

The second and last film in the Baahubali franchise was nothing short of a spectacle. The film was released across 6500 screens in India, where it witnessed high footfall. Across other countries, Baahubali 2 performed equally well and managed to earn Rs 217 crore just on its opening day, according to a 2017 Indian Express report.

Baahubali: The Beginning, which was released across 1600 screens, did not fare as big as Baahubali 2 on its opening day. A 2016 IBTimes report states that on Day 1, the film grossed Rs 75 crore worldwide.

Meanwhile, RRR, in comparison, earned a whopping Rs 257 crore worldwide. It is the first Indian film to reach this milestone, according to trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan.

Here is his tweet:

The film has garnered appreciation for its visuals, story, acting and other technical aspects.

Trade analysts Ramesh Bala and Taran Adarsh shared the Telugu version’s box office metrics as well as the performance of its other versions in international territories.

Here are the updates:

RRR is a retelling of Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, with Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead. Joining them on screen is Alia Bhatt in her Telugu debut along with Ajay Devgn. Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris also star in pivotal roles.

RRR is produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainments. The film’s soundtrack is composed by MM Keeravani.

The film is currently playing in theatres and will soon head towards the OTT space after 90 days. It was previously reported that the streaming rights of RRR are currently held by Netflix and Zee.
