Actor RS Shivaji, who has played several memorable roles in his four-decade-old acting career, breathed his last this morning at his residence in Chennai. He was last seen in Yogi Babu's Lucky Man which hit the screens yesterday. Film buffs are shocked to hear about their favourite actor's unexpected demise.

The 66-year-old actor has excelled in various comedy and character roles, some of which remain favourite among cinephiles. His brother Santhana Bharathi is also a popular actor and a filmmaker. Movie enthusiasts have been taking to social media to recollect his contribution to the film industry.

Films with Kamal Haasan stood out

He has played diverse roles in various movies of Kamal Haasan. Vikram, Sathya, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Guna, Anbe Sivam and Pammal K Sambandam are some of the films he acted in along with the Ulaganayagan. Needless to say, he shared a close bond with the Indian 2 star.

Chakri Toleti's Unnaipol Oruvan was the last project that witnessed the two of them collaborating together. His brother Santhana Bharathi was also a regular in many of Kamal's films, including the previous outing Vikram.

Notable roles in the recent years

Shivaji played a few acclaimed roles in recent years. The actor came up with a phenomenal performance in Gargi which had him essaying a rape-accused family man. The character that left many haunted won him appreciation from several quarters. 

Soorarai Pottru, Kolamavu Kokila, Dharala Prabhu, 8 Thottakkal and Parris Jeyaraj were a few other projects in which he delivered interesting performances. Shivaji, who was also part of a few TV serials, made his digital debut in 2000 with the Amazon Prime series Time Enna Boss.
