The makers of Sabhaapathy, directed by R Srinivasa Rao, had announced its theatrical release on November 19 a while ago, putting the rumours surrounding its direct-to-OTT premiere to rest. Preethi Verma plays Santhanam's romantic interest in the movie which features MS Bhaskar, Cooku with Comali fame Pugazh, Vamsi, Sayaji Shinde and Lollu Sabha Maran playing pivotal roles.

Baskar Arumugam has cranked the camera for the comic caper which has music composed by Sam CS and editing by Leo John Paul. Hari Dinesh and Sathish Krishnan have choreographed action sequences and dance moves respectively for the film.

The team has now released a two-minute trailer which provides a sneak peek into the film's story and the characterization of the protagonist. Santhanam plays the titular role in Sabhaapathy who suffers from stammering issues. He gets rejected continuously in job interviews because of this and becomes dejected in life.

His friends, too, start making fun of his love life because of his stammering issue. However, his life changes when he accidentally comes across a bag full of cash which actually belongs to a crooked politician. How his life changes after he becomes rich forms the rest of the story.

Sayaji Shinde and Vamsi will be seen playing ambitious politicians in the film which brings together Santhanam and MS Bhaskar as son and father again after the successful film A1 (streaming on Sun NXT, Jio Cinema and MX Player).

The movie will take on Shanthnu and Athulya's Murungakkai Chips, Sashikanth's Kadaseela Biriyani and CV Kumar's Jango at the box office. Santhanam's last outing, Dikkiloona, in which he played triple roles, had a direct release on Zee5.
