As promised the makers of the highly anticipated Prabhas-starrer Salaar dropped the first look of the movie today, revealing that Jagapathi Babu will emulate the role of the character Rajamannar in the film. The much awaited poster was posted by the Twitter handle of Hombale Films, the production banner under Vijay Kiragandur who will serve as producer of the film.

The producers had announced yesterday that they would offer a sneak peek at the character of Rajamannar today. A single glimpse of the black and white poster is enough to give out that the character is definitely not one to be messed with. It shows Jagapathi Babu’s Rajamannar sporting a beard and a septum ring, a burning cigarette dangling between his lips and his brow deeply furrowed, as he stares at the viewer with an intensity that commands respect and chills at the same time.

Featuring KGF director Prashant Neel in the director’s chair, Salaar will mark his first time collaborating with the popular actor Prabhas who will star as the lead. The Baahubali actor reportedly underwent a huge transformation in preparation for his role, according to Pinkvilla, bulking up to better emulate his character on screen. His role in the film is said to be dark and violent. In addition to Prabhas and Jagapathi Babu, the film will also star Shruti Haasan and Madhu Guruswamy.

Simultaneously shot both in Kannada and Telugu, Salaar had started its principal photography in Telangana back in January. With music and cinematography by Ravi Basrur and Bhuvan Gowda respectively, the film is slated for a theatrical release in April next year.
