Multifaceted actress Shruti Haasan made her presence felt at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival after a significant hiatus. Attending as the guest of honour on the panel titled "Activating Change," Shruti engaged in discussions centred around gender parity in the film industry.

On the sidelines at Cannes, Shruti Haasan also took the opportunity to talk about her upcoming movie Salaar, in which she stars along with Telugu superstar Prabhas. She shared her thoughts on the film and its director, Prashanth Neel.

"As you have seen with Prashanth Neel's previous work, you have your man. You have your story. But, everything around it is what builds that character and story. So each of them has their own space," Shruti Haasan told Film Companion.

She further praised Prashanth for his ability to create worlds and characters that resonated with the audience, appealing to wider audiences. She believes that Salaar possesses qualities that will captivate viewers and transport them into a unique cinematic experience. She suggested that in Salaar, Prashanth has dialled up all the qualities that made KGF 2 such a monstrous hit.

"I loved in KGF 2 that the forgotten father had a space. He (Prashanth) creates these worlds. Is it for everyone? I don't know. I loved it. I love the stories that create worlds that bordered on timelessness like where does it belong, who are these people? And you leave enough of an ephemeral quality for everyone to connect which is why I think KGF did so well. And I think Salaar has those qualities. We're just like really upped," Shruti said.

Shruti Haasan also emphasized the freedom she had while working on Salaar and her collaboration with the director and co-stars to refine her character. "For Salaar, I have to give credit to both Prashanth sir and Prabhas. They were really open to suggestions. I was like I don't think a woman would react that way, and we were able to have those conversations, which was amazing," she shared. Shruti Haasan appreciated her role in the film, describing it as "integral to the story."

Salaar is a big-budget spectacle and it has created quite a hype across the country following the huge success of Prashanth's KGF 2. The film is due in cinemas in September.
