Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for the release of his film, Sam Bahadur. It marks his reunion with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar after their 2018 film Raazi. Will Sam Bahadur be able to recreate the same magic as Raazi? Only time will tell. Having said that, this movie is likely to have a decent start at the box office. It may open at Rs 3-4 crore at the ticket window.
Sam Bahadur day 1 box office prediction
According to trade expert Akshaye Rathi, Sam Bahadur may witness growth in its collection due to positive word of mouth. "Sam Bahadur is one of those films that is meant to grow with word of mouth. I expect it to open at Rs 3 or Rs 4 crore. But from there, it goes from strength to strength with good word of mouth," he said.
Further, the trade analyst quipped that the Animal vs Sam Bahadur box office clash seems like the clash between Gadar 2 and OMG 2.
"It is actually seeming like the déjà vu of the 11th August scenario where you had a Gadar 2 opening like a storm and did a great lifetime number. Then you had OMG 2 come along which chipped in day by day and with a strong word of mouth, it became the boss that it was. I expect the same to happen to these two," added Akshaye.
Like Akshaye, trade expert Taran Adarsh expects Sam Bahadur will grow with word of mouth. "It is going to be a great film. But the strong (movie) release period will cost it. Of course, it will pick up with strong word of mouth. The merits are there. But intially, the first choice will be Animal. It may earn Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 4.5 crore and it also depends on the word of mouth," he said.

Meghna Gulzar's film, Sam Bahadur, is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, who was the Chief of army staff of the Indian army during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. While Vicky plays the titular role, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh also play pivotal roles in this war drama. RRR actor Edward Sonnenblick and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub are also integral parts of the movie.
