Samantha, who has been in the news for the last few days with regard to separation from her former husband, has now signed her next project. Touted to be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the movie will be directed by debutant Shantharuban Gnanasekaran. The untitled film is produced by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures. He took to Twitter to make the announcement with a picture of Samantha. Apparently, the film marks the production house' 30th project.
Prabhu tweeted, "Happy to have @Samanthaprabhu2 onboard for our next Bilingual film!! #Production#30." An announcement on the movie's cast and crew details is expected soon. The production house' upcoming movie is also a bilingual being made simultaneously in both Tamil and Telugu. Titled Kanam in Tamil, its Telugu version is Oke Oka Jeevitham. The project, which has Sharwanand and Ritu Varma playing the lead roles, marks the comeback of Amala Akkineni to Kollywood after three decades.
Samantha, who was last seen in Tamil in Thiagarajan Kumararaja's acclaimed film, Super Deluxe (streaming on Netflix), will next be seen in Vignesh Shivan's Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, in which she has shared screen space with Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara for the first time. Billed as a fun-filled rom-com, the movie is expected to start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar though an official announcement from the makers is expected soon.
Her last outing was the successful second season of The Family Man (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) in which she received acclaim for the portrayal of an extremist. Though she received backlash initially on social media for her role, the series went on to become one of the most binge-watched Indian projects this year. Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam, a mythological film, is another project of hers, which is riding on big expectations.
