9 years later, actor Harshvardhan Rane has finally got his due at the box office. His 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam was re-released in theatres on February 7, 2025, and since then it has been enjoying a fabulous run at the box office. Despite releasing alongside Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor's Loveyapa, and Himesh Reshammiya's Badass Ravi Kumar, Rane's film stood out and how. Social media is abuzz with people demanding for him to be cast in big films instead of star kids. In a recent interview, Harshvardhan spoke about nepotism in the industry and shared his thoughts on the same.
Harshvardhan featured alongside Mawra Hocane in the tragic love story, Sanam Teri Kasam. Several videos from theatres are going viral on the internet. Fans have been crying while re-watching the film on the big screen. Amid receiving love and appreciation, Harshvardhan recently spoke to India Today and shared his views on nepotism. On being asked if the noise around star kids makes him feel bitter about his career, the actor explained why he does not feel any resentment towards nepotism. He said that more than the star kids, outsiders are getting to do good work.
He said, "Honestly, I am someone who believes in writing down things rather than just believing the voices floating around me. When people talk about star kids getting all the opportunities, I write their names and realise 8 out of 10 have already vanished from the scene. Hence, I am not able to feel resentment when I do the mathematics and realise how outsiders are the ones who continue to get good work. How can we not look at their success? I can thus never bring myself to complain about it."
He further added, "This is not any kind of positive affirmation, but it's facts. I think every time someone has a doubt, they should make a note. There are no biases or partialities, just hard facts. Not many star kids have found work eventually, and it's the outsiders who are at the top."
In the same conversation, the actor was asked if it gets frustrating while waiting for good films to come his way, and he said that he's good at waiting. He shared, "Since childhood, I have been waiting for things to go my way, and I think everyone needs to learn that everything has its own time. I also believe in delayed gratification rather than quick ones, because the latter doesn’t last long."
