Sanam Teri Kasam re-release box office day 2: Surpasses its Rs 9 cr lifetime haul in two days beating Interstellar, Badass Ravi Kumar, and Loveyapa

Sanam Teri Kasam Re-release Box Office Day 2: That some movies are released ahead of their time is a common belief about films that fail to connect with audiences initially. However, only a few remain relevant long enough to prove they were truly ahead of their time. Sanam Teri Kasam is one such film, as its re-release in India has managed to surpass its original lifetime collection in just two days. You read that right! The movie is performing stronger than any other film at the box office right now. Below is all you need to know.

Sanam Teri Kasam Box Office Update

Sanam Teri Kasam was originally released in 2014 and stars Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in lead roles. The film is directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao. Now, after 12 years, it has returned to the big screen and even outperformed Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar in India. When it was first released, the Mawra-starrer had an opening collection of ₹1.25 crore, with a lifetime total of ₹9 crore. With its re-release, the film has now surpassed that record in just two days, earning over ₹5 crore on day 2. 

As per Sacnilk, the movie collected ₹5.25 crore at the Indian box office on day 2 of its re-release. Adding this to the first-day earnings of ₹4.25 crore, the total now stands at a solid ₹9.50 crore. This means the film has already exceeded its original lifetime collection, which is a huge achievement. Additionally, it has performed better than every other ongoing release, including Interstellar, Loveyapa, Badass Ravi Kumar, and Padmaavat.

Harshvardhan Rane on Sanam Teri Kasam Re-release

Harshvardhan Rane spoke to TOI about the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, saying, "I hope it does what it didn’t do earlier, that’s it. What should I even feel? Everyone was asking me everywhere to bring this film back. The only anecdote I remember is that we all expected this film to do much better than it originally did. That void has pushed me to request everyone to re-release it. Nau saal ho gaye hain (It has been nine years). Every year, they keep losing faith, but my faith keeps increasing."

Continuing, he said, "When it didn’t perform well, all of us—the producers, directors, actors—felt that pain, a tug in the heart."

He also thanked the trend of re-releasing films, adding, "Even after parents get divorced, they sometimes get married again. As a child, I am very happy with this ‘marriage.’ I am up for remarriages and re-releases." Harshvardhan hopes that the film achieves what it couldn’t during its original run, just like Tumbbad and Laila Majnu did. "If I was good at predictions, I would have done it nine years ago. I hope that happens now," he added.
