After back-to-back failures of a few outings like Sabhaapathy, Gulu Gulu and Agent Kannayiram, Santhanam is back to horror comedy, the genre which helped him score two hits, Dhilluku Dhuddu and Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 in 2016 and 2019 respectively.

His next has been titled DD Returns, but the makers haven't revealed any connection with the popular franchise which was released a few years ago. S Prem Anand, one of the directors of the actor's Inimey Ippadithan, is at the helm this time. Rambhala wielded the megaphone for Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise.

Maran, who is a regular in Santhanam's films these days, will be seen playing a crucial character this time, too. Surbhi plays the female lead in the movie which has Redin Kingsley, Maran, Pradeep Rawat, Masoom Shankar, Fesi Vijayan, Motta Rajendran and Munishkanth essaying key roles.

The team has also come up with a title teaser which is similar to the horror comedy projects the actor has been part of earlier. C Ramesh Kumar has bankrolled the film under the banner of RK Entertainment. Dipak Kumar Padhy, who cranked the camera for Santhanam's Dagaalty, is handling cinematography while ofRo is in charge of composing music.

NB Srikanth and AR Mohan have handled editing and art direction respectively. Hari Dinesh has choreographed action scenes and Sandy has composed dance moves. DD Returns is expected to hit the screens this year. A while ago, Santhanam had posted a picture from the dubbing session of an unrevealed project.

Fans, who were curious about the film, are now elated with the official announcement. They hope that the movie will break the jinx associated with the actor's flop streak. Parris Jeyaraj was his last successful outing which met the expectations of the audience.
